After a long period of high prices, pepper prices in the country are sharply reduced. Pepper Association of Vietnam said that this is the inevitable consequence of the development of "hot" area, despite the recommendations.
In many key pepper-growing areas such as Chau Duc, Xuyen Moc (Ba Ria-Vung Tau), Hon Quan, Loc Ninh (Binh Phuoc), Buon Ho, Cu Kuin (Dak Lak), Dak Song, Dak RLap (Dak Nong) , Chu Se (Gia Lai), pepper prices from early May 2017 to now reduced gradually. The number of successful transactions is low because most people do not intend to sell at this time.

The reason is that pepper prices are constantly decreasing due to the pepper season, the high output and many foreign customers pressuring the crop from 2016 to 2017. Besides, breaking the planning is also the cause of excess supply, causing prices to fall deeper. According to the Central Highlands Steering Committee, the price of pepper has increased continuously in recent years, sometimes increased to 230,000 VND / kg and profit is 3 times higher than that of coffee, cashew .... In the Central Highlands, despite the recommendations of the local and functional sectors, massively expanded area.
Before this fact, Do Ha Nam - President of Vietnam Pepper Association - advised people not to sell pepper below 80,000 VND / kg because the current demand of pepper is still quite large (about 200,000 tons ). In addition, the producers need to pay close attention to developments and signals of the world market for direction in order to avoid risks. Villagers should not develop more acreage, only grow pepper in favorable farming areas.
